In Canada, milk comes in bags. When we first went grocery shopping we couldn't figure out how you were supposed to pour it. Some nice person explained to the dumb Americans that you have to buy milk pitchers to use. The pitchers came in handy as bailing buckets to remove water from the bottom of the canoes.
